Eco-jew and Decorative Objects

Designing Sustainable Beauty with Cardboard

Eco jewels and decorative objects made of paper were developed from the idea of reusing the cardboard of the toilet paper roll. The entire sustainable cycle, from material to production. Production is carried out through a social inclusion project that serves the low-income population with mental illness and vulnerability. The pieces are also made with handmade recycled paper. At first glance, it is difficult to identify the material used. The Eco jewels and decorative objects are modern and contemporary pieces, with beauty and sustainable appeal.

Roberta Sa Faustini, a designer and architect, has created a stunning collection of eco-friendly jewelry and decorative objects that are not only visually appealing but also environmentally conscious. The inspiration for this unique design came from the desire to find a new purpose for the cardboard rolls of toilet paper that are discarded daily.

What sets these pieces apart is their commitment to sustainability. The materials used are recycled and the production process is carried out by Oficina de Papel, a social inclusion project that serves the low-income population with mental disabilities and social vulnerability. The jewelry and decorative objects are made by reusing the cardboard rolls and handmade recycled paper, showcasing the designer's dedication to creating a sustainable cycle.

The design specifications of the pieces vary, with smaller items such as bracelets and necklaces measuring 60mm x 10mm x 60mm or 20mm x 20mm x 60mm. Larger decorative objects can measure up to 40mm x 40mm x 4000mm. The pieces are meticulously crafted using cutting techniques, resulting in intricate and unique designs.

One of the main challenges in creating this collection was to give a new meaning to a material as common as the toilet paper roll. The designer successfully transformed this everyday item into beautiful and contemporary pieces of jewelry and decorative objects that are visually stunning.

Not only are these pieces visually appealing, but they also have a deeper purpose. By working with Oficina de Papel, Roberta Sa Faustini has created a project that not only promotes sustainability but also provides opportunities for individuals with mental disabilities and social vulnerability. The collaboration between the designer and the institution has resulted in a collection that not only looks good but also does good.

This collection of eco-jewelry and decorative objects has garnered recognition and accolades. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2020. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life.

Roberta Sa Faustini's eco-jewelry and decorative objects made from recycled cardboard are not only beautiful and contemporary but also serve as a reminder of the importance of sustainability and social inclusion. By giving new life to discarded materials and supporting a social project, these pieces showcase the power of design to make a positive impact.
